Andriy Sydorenko
ANDRIY SYDORENKO
Artist, Curator, Researcher.
Andriy (Andrii) Sydorenko was born in 1983 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Since the 2010s, he has been combining artistic creativity with scientific work and the organization of exhibitions. In particular, Andriy Sydorenko works as a co-curator for the annual platform "Newest Directions", which hosts exhibitions and other cultural events, such as lectures and theoretical competitions for more than 10 years. In 2014, he contributed to the organization of the project "Premonition: Ukrainian Art Now" at the Saatchi Gallery in London. His works are regularly exhibited in leading international institutions, in particular, in the Oscar Niemeyer Museum (Curitiba, Brazil), the Künstlerhaus (Vienna, Austria), the Ukrainian Institute of Contemporary Art (Chicago, USA), the Wilson Center (Washington, USA) the Ukrainian Museum (New York, USA). In 2018, Andriy Sydorenko became a co-founder of the Pankoptikum art group. In 2023, he acted as co-curator and author of the concept of the "Concentration of Will" project, which was displayed in the exhibition spaces of the National Academy of Arts, the Center for Contemporary Art M17 and the Modern Art Research Institute.
Most of Andriy Sydorenko's works of art immerse the viewer in the atmosphere of dystopia. One of the central objects of his work is the image of a society in which people have become hostages of false ideological experiments. The thoughts and emotions of these people are heavily manipulated, but they do not even know about it, because critical reflection is not practiced among them.
